Possiamo
considerare ciò come un chiaro riferimento etimologico.
As
far as regards the fruit of currant, there aren't in fact any
mythologies or myths related directly to it. I found, however, an
indirect reference to the plant in the Iranian myth of Gayomart:
The
story is part of a wide range of myths that binds the birth of
humanity to the world of plants: in particular, the creation of the
first man and the first woman. In this case, was the seed of Gayomart
to generate a plant, the Rheum Ribes,
from which the first human pair was born, formed by Mashya and
Mashyana, (Mašī and Mašanī),
so joined that, according to the story, it was impossible to
distinguish between the one and the other.
It's
interesting to notice that this typical Iranian plant carries, in the
shape of its petals, a clear resemblance to the fruit of currant.
ETIMOLOGIA E DEFINIZIONE SCODELLA.
A
(es: The traditional Games
of England, Scotland and Ireland, di A.B. Gomme).
Parliamo
Talking
about the bowl, we can say it is an object with very profound roots,
surely one of the most ancient kitchen tools we can find: since
preistorical age, wen men firstly began to produce the first tools
used for feeding, we can see the presence of rudimental bowls, which
in time became more and more detailed; in particular, they found new
materials which with they could be made. We can space from ancient
bowls made of earthenware, (as far as the name itself
comes from latin scutella, maybe
deriving by scutumscudo, more probably a diminutive from the
greek word scutra, container made of earth), to
the precious wooden japanese bowls, to common bowls used nowadays.
This
object is named and used within the Irish tradition as an object of a
particular traditional game: there are real books that speak entirely
about the world of typical games of this area. (eg: The traditional
games of England, Scotland and Ireland, by AB Gomme).
We
speak in particular of a section of games and jokes which had to
choose as victims some simple and distracted people, who didn't
imagine the presence of an irony behind the game to which they
where lent: this had to cause, of course, the general hilarity of the
group who had organized the game.
The
spoon and the Porringer: the person who organized the game
was holding a spoon in his mouth and he wore on top of his head a
bowl full of water. He proclaimed, at that point, that he would have
been able, using just the spoon in his mouth, to take water from the
bowl without in any way using his hands. Who, among the present
people, would have approached for a better look and for understanding
how he would have done that, would have found himself drenched, as
the other person would have overthrown him the whole bowl of water.
